Being a Researcher - getting under way

This Blog is a place for exploring research methods as part of the goal of completing an IMC Research degree program.
It is beginning a month late as I have been ill and unable to complete the process of setting up the work for everyone. I apologise for the delay, trust that you have used the time for other tasks on your list, and will be able to give this the attention it needs in the two months ahead.
in the Program schedule this Blog addresses the following section of work -
Interactive Virtual Doctoral Workshop – No.1 (September to November equating to 20 hours)
Key theme: Action Research (to follow on from Residential)
Other running themes continued
Faculty members set themes and provide relevant papers and set workshop question/s.
Associates take lead role in developing responses via internet message board.
All Associates are expected to contribute.
Faculty member acts as Moderator and ensures that all Associates take part.
At conclusion, one designated Associate writes 2-page summary for circulation to all.

As we did not begin in September as planned, the end date will now be in December. During the weeks ahead we will collaboratively agree on the date.
This first messages sets out
  • the first task for you to do - to get underway
The next messages will consider
  • ways that we can use this Blog to collaborate
  • a general overview of what lies ahead
  • how we might decide who will be the designated Associate to write the summary
  • benefits I hope everyone will gain from this activity
A Blog is a highly flexible means of storing and sharing information, ideas and questions. It is as collaborative as its owners want it to be, is readily accessible and can be as big and regular - or as small and infrequent as you want.
For this Blog everyone who has the address will have full editing rights - that means you can write entries, post links, images and make as many comments as you want.
Blogger has some useful 'help' resources so I will not repeat them here. Please explore as part of your time spent on this aspect of your study.
I am assuming that you have not used Blogger before, so my first question to you is 'How do I learn new things?'
The first entry from each of you wil a comment in reply describing - briefly - how you decided to approach the task of accessing the Blog, then what you thought about as you began to decide what to do about the work that lies ahead.
As I have found that Blog entries are better short, this is all for this one.
